Use case: compare places

How do we compare with the places we compete with?

Compare your region with peers, competing regions, the state and the nation, with the basis for the comparison stated, so you can see where you are stronger and where you are not.

An illustrated side-by-side comparison of four places on population, employment, wages and education, with an employment growth chart.
Illustrative example. Places and figures are fictional.

The comparison can be challenged

MIQ states the peer basis with every comparison.

  • Who you actually compete with. Identify the regions bidding against you for the same projects, and see where they are genuinely stronger and where they are not.
  • Benchmark honestly. Compare your region against a chosen peer set rather than the peer set that flatters you, with the basis of comparison stated.

Every use case works the same way.

Every figure carries its source and the period it covers. Where the evidence does not support a conclusion, MIQ says so. You review, verify and own the work before it is published.
